Aim The Heart and Then The Camera

For Christian filmmakers, the goal isn’t simply to make better films. It’s to become the kind of filmmaker whose work flows from a heart surrendered to Christ.

This is at the heart of Episode 9 of the Faith Film Fests Podcast, where Doug Weiss talks with pastor, author, and Christian Film Foundation director Ed Grifenhagen about his journey into Christian filmmaking, the mission of the Christian Film Foundation, the Kendrick Brothers’ Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul and the new Heart of the Filmmaker Academy.

Ed’s journey into filmmaking is anything but conventional. After decades in the business world, he was called into full-time ministry. His connection to the Kendrick Brothers began in 2018 when their production came to Columbus, Georgia. What started with helping the production find locations—and a few dozen of his wife’s famous chocolate chip cookies—eventually led Ed to serving as a chaplain on film sets and, ultimately, becoming director of the Christian Film Foundation.
